Reflexology at The Retreat Spa

The ancient art of Reflexology has been around for thousands of years. Its very first pictorial evidence was found in the tomb of Ankhmahor at Saggara in Egypt, dated around 2330 B.C., with evidence also found in China, Russia and Japan.

Reflexology works on the premise that the feet are a mini map of the body and by working on specific points we can give a lasting and beneficial effect to the recipient.
It has a scientific basis, in that during the 20th century, an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist found physical effects in areas such as the body’s digestive, reproductive and urinary systems, by pressing points on the feet.

The practitioner works thoroughly over the feet, finding imbalances, which can sometimes feel like granules or cause minor discomfort. These areas are worked on to bring balance or homeostasis, allowing the body or the system of the recipient to work more efficiently. If there are no specific problems, then this treatment can also work as a preventative measure, stopping potential problems before they arise, restoring the free flow of energy to the entire body.

Whether as a curative or preventative treatment, Reflexology is sure to leave you floating on air!
