Summer Sun Tips !

PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE BEACH BEFORE SUMMER ARRIVES

Preparing for the Beach

After a winter of wearing jumpers, long sleeves and jackets, summer is here and you’re ready to show off some skin! However, before you can do this you need to make sure your skin is ready for the harsh UV rays of the sun. Here’s what you’ll need to consider:

Take care of dry skin
Summer demands smooth radiant skin, but cold winter temperatures may have left your skin lacking. If you have normal skin, use a body scrub to exfoliate 3 times-a-week. If your skin is sensitive, try using a less abrasive exfoliant. However make sure, not to over-exfoliate; this could lead to uneven shedding and strip your skin of natural oils, leading to even drier results. For a gentle scrub try the ESPA ‘Invigorating Body Reviver’ with Lemongrass, Lime & Thyme - this scrub will not only smooth your skin but revive your senses.

Get rid of stubble
Have you ever found a strip of hair you missed while shaving in the shower? Getting rid of it is essential to smooth skin, but shaving outside of the shower isn’t ideal, as it could result in razor burn. To address this problem, apply natural oil to the strip of hair before using the razor. This will prevent razor burn and soften the hair you’re shaving.

Switch your soap
Did you know that some types of soap actually suck the moisture out of your skin? This isn’t something you want to worry about when you’re heading to the beach, so change your soap now! Try an all-natural soap free shower gel such as the ESPA ‘Nourishing Shower Cream’ with Rose, Patchouli and Shea Butter for deeply cleansed but soft and smooth skin.

Detoxify
Impurities in your body can make your skin look tired and worn. Luckily, this problem is easily taken care of by drinking more water. Drinking an extra glass or two during the summer can flush out impurities, moisturize your skin and boost your energy.

Slather on the sunscreen
And not just any sunscreen! You simply can’t trust your skin to the average off-the-shelf sunscreen. You need something that will block UVA and UVB rays so you can stay at the beach for as long as you want. Make sure you reapply after swimming even if it says it is waterproof.
