FIRE SHOW

Classic family entertainment at the Olive Courtyard. Witness a stunning Fire & UV Lighting Show performed by an exceptionally talented group of artistes. LATIN-AMERICAN DANCE SHOW
Enjoy our high-energy traditional Latin-American Dance Show at the Olive Courtyard! The colourful exhibition of rhythmic dance duos is performed by outstanding dancers, displaying a variety of flamboyant traditional costumes. The show offers a spectacular performance that will make you want to move to the beat of Salsa, Tango and Rumba!




ACROBATIC SHOW
The Olive Courtyard is hosting a show which quite simply - must NOT be missed! The Acrobat Show is a wild and electrifying performance of daredevil and gravity-defying moves, which will just take your breath away. The superior talent and expertise displayed by these acrobats will have you mesmerised from the start!







INTERNATIONAL SHOW 
The amazing live International Dance Show is one of the most successful shows of all time ever to be staged at the Olive Courtyard. Enjoy a spectacular evening of alfresco entertainment at Aphrodite Hills Resort, watching a variety of dramatic and world-renowned dance routines that include Latin, Ballroom, Foxtrot, Samba and the Quick Step. Each outstanding dance performance boasts breathtaking choreography and glamorous traditional costumes. These powerful and show-stopping dances, performed to famous dance music compositions will leave you astounded and asking for more.

The Annabel Croft Tennis Academy June 2014 Newsletter




What's happening this month at the Tennis Academy?

The month of June sees the introduction of many new and exciting additions to our weekly schedule.

  • To start off the week, each Monday we have a complimentary Group Lesson at 6.00pm for a duration of approximately 90 minutes. Bring your family and friends!
  • On Tuesdays we have Cardio Tennis. It’s all about having tremendous fun and is high energy, heart pumping fitness to music! No previous tennis experience is required.
  • Wednesdays we have our Club Nights from 6.00pm - 8.00pm. Meet friends and make some new ones!
  • Super Saturday Junior Fitness Club, 10.00am to 1.00pm. Our Junior Sports Club involving tennis, football, basketball and cardio tennis for just €10 per person. During the month of June take advantage of our special offer and bring a friend for FREE!

Throughout June we are holding a competition! Entry is €40 which gives you four sessions with the ball machine. Points are recorded and the highest score will win a Babolat Pure Drive Racquet to the value of €160!!

Off-Peak Golf Members Weekender



Saturday 31st May 2014 saw an impressive display of golf from all ages at the ‘Off- Peak Members Weekender’ held at Aphrodite Hills Resort - but it was the young 8-year-old Vilda West Blanc who stole the show!
In blustery conditions this little girl proved that the game is indeed a great leveller, no matter your age or Handicap. Vilda struggled slightly on the long par 5’s, but on the par 3’s and 4’s she amassed an excellent 38 points to take day one and also had three shots cut from her Handicap. Throughout the day Vilda not only played well, but also her etiquette and manner were impeccable and she was a credit to her proud parents. Oscar, Vilda’s 13-year-old brother was my playing partner for the day, and on amassing 33 points he was also a credit to himself, his family and the wonderful game of golf.
All entrants played with determination, fun and sportsmanship - exactly the way golf should be played. Day one saw another excellent player, Nigel Jones, who deservedly won ‘nearest the pin’ on hole 17, whilst his partner Sara took runners-up position.



Sunday 1st June 2014 continued with a full field wanting to know if they could ‘peg back’ Vilda after her amazing first day. Conditions were equal to Saturday, with the wind proving vital for shot-making and club selection.
Day two of the event had a twist, as the par 3’s for men were from white tees and the ladies from blue tees. The rest of the course played from yellow and red tees.
After scoring 32 points on day one, Pat Chapman had much to achieve - but he showed good form after his first day’s impressive back nine total of 22 points.
Day two became his day, as he shot 18 on the front nine and 22 points again on the back nine to give him a total of 40 points and become the winner of day two! Second place was won by staff member Robby Robinson, who also won ‘nearest the pin’ on hole 17. The prize for ‘nearest the pin’ in two shots on hole 14 was Nigel Jones, who is making a habit of winning the extra prizes! Well done to all prize winners!

The overall winner for the weekend had to be decided on countback between Pat Chapman and 8-year-old Vilda, who scored 34 points on day two, therefore giving both players 72 points for the whole event. However, it was Pat Chapman with his 44 point total for two days on the back nine who took the prize. Oscar took third place with 68 (33:35) points.
Other notable points of the weekend were:
Gabs made her debut in a competition and played well. Sara and Nigel Jones both wished to lower their Handicaps and did so. Bob Peach and Peter Harward played with gusto and fun. Sam and Kathy Lawson may have had their own private game going as their scores for each day were equal, but I won’t mention who was victorious! Craig VV, Mark Barrow, Pam and Martin laughed at their errors on the course but would have won the 19th - easily!


Finally, I would like to thank all entrants for their overall support and from me personally after suffering a trapped nerve - I appreciate your kind words! Many thanks to Gabriel’s Restaurant in Kouklia for hosting the after-event meal and for their support of the Off-Peak Members. I also agree with Fiona Harward that we must make this event a regular one! However, I believe that for all ages of players the overall winner was golf! Thank You!

Tips to Naturally Reduce Cellulite from The Retreat Spa Beauty Team


 

Some great tips from our Retreat Spa Beauty Team to rid yourself of that unwanted cellulite this summer. 

1. Eat a Clean, Alkaline, Unprocessed Diet
In order to remove the toxins from your body, you must first draw them out from where they have accumulated in your cells, tissues and organs. The way to do this is to consume alkaline-forming foods (meaning they leave an alkaline ash in the body). All fresh fruits and vegetables are alkaline and should make up the largest part of your diet.

2. Hydrate & Flush
You need to drink pure, clean water and get organic hydration from fresh fruits and vegetables - making sure toxins flush straight through you. Water is essential to life and it is also essential to reducing and preventing cellulite. Drink pure water every day as the first thing you consume - but if you don’t like water, add lemon juice or lemon slices. Herbal teas are very beneficial to your system - but avoid drinking coffee and tea as much as possible. If you do choose to consume them, drink extra water and fresh vegetable juice to help counter their dehydrating effects and acidity. Again, fresh vegetable juice is king.

3. Swap Your Salt
Refined salt is extremely acidic and leaches minerals from your body. It’s also highly dehydrating (hello cellulite!) and so refined that your body will need to use its vital life force to try to assimilate this dead salt. Refined salt only adds to the accumulation of toxicity in your body.

4. True Detoxification - Getting the Waste Out
When you consume alkaline foods (as per the first three tips), the alkalinity of these products start to attract old acidic waste deep within your body. This is excellent and exactly what you want. Once this waste has come out, your body will have a chance of showing less of the toxicity through cellulite. However, if you are drawing this toxic waste out of the cells and tissues it still needs to be removed completely. This is where your elimination channels come in - they work to get this waste OUT so it does not just re-settle in your body.

Stimulating the Lymphatic System (the lymph sits just underneath the surface of the skin) through dry-bristle Skin Brushing and Massage helps toxins to be circulated into the elimination channels for release. Skin Brushing can specifically target areas of cellulite. Using a skin brush in small circular movements over your thighs, bottom and other areas with cellulite for a few minutes, several times per week will help to break down the fatty deposits that cause the dimpled appearance. It’s best to start with just a minute of Skin Brushing and then work your way up to a few minutes at a time. This will help your skin adjust and prevent sensitivity. Try ESPA’s ‘Skin Brush’ with natural Mexican Cactus Bristles.

6. Moving & Sweating
When you do sweaty exercise you are not only helping stress relief and giving yourself an endorphin rush, you are also expelling toxins through your skin. This is another avenue of elimination that is best not ignored if you want to decrease the appearance of cellulite. It will also help to improve the overall appearance of your body by tightening, toning and lengthening, so that even if your cellulite is there the overall appearance of your body will be more flattering.

7. Limit the Use of Skin Thinning Creams
If you are currently using any chemicals on your cellulite areas, which thin your skin (such as steroids), your cellulite is going to be more obvious. It makes logical sense that if your skin is thinner, the appearance of dimples beneath the skin will stand out more, plus your skin will show age and imperfections. Instead, nourish your skin with natural oils and creams such as ESPA’s ‘Smooth & Firm Body Butter’ which firms, smooths and softens the skin, enhancing elasticity and diminishing stretch marks.

For a super detoxification treatment add two capfuls of ESPA’s ‘Detoxifying Seaweed Bath’ to your bath and relax for 20 minutes. Make sure you drink plenty of water after to flush out the toxins it will help to release.

Two Exciting New Restaurants at Aphrodite Hills this Summer




At Aphrodite Hills Resort we are proud of the diversity of dining choices we offer our guests, and we’re very excited about our latest restaurant developments.  The ever popular Asian Corner is on the move from the Village Square to the Leander restaurant within the InterContinental Hotel itself.  The menu remains the same as before, with all your favourite Asian influences on one extensive menu.
